For a young nineteenth-century American who had left school at age nine in order to work, the hardest part of his sinecure was that-no doubt for the first time in his experience-he had almost nothing to do. "I reminded myself that, soon or late, I must go back to the old fashion of earning money, and that it had better be sooner than later." And so-"though for some strange reasons it was the saddest and strangest thing in the world to do"-Howells left Venice. Howells wrote a campaign biography of Abraham Lincoln. Basically the students get swords and fight in pairs to knock the opponents stars off, collect the stars and move up in rank. But this should be a well-produced DVD, and not a book. However, I could not wait to be done with this book, found few redeeming qualities, and strongly recommend that you avoid it.. It is way too detailed to discuss here - but it is extremely well argued in the book. We did get some details of how the One Child Policy works. We also meet a major supporting character for future Gor novels, Samos the slaver of Port Kar. The emphasis is still on the action and adventure in "Assassin of Gor" more than the Gorean philosophy that would come to dominate the later volumes in the series. I absolutely loved this intrigue and mystery. At one point, he describes that Kruschev "showered sticky kisses on the backsides of the US imperialists" (p.
