For Carla Radling, her buried secret just happens to be intertwined with a powerful presidential candidate. The POV is still Brian's (the one keeping the journal in Rise), and a large portion of the story is told in first person, but there is more interaction between the characters in real time, rather than reflecting on past events, as Brian did with the journal entries in the first book. Roger Oakland and Jim Tetlow have made it their mission to bash and misinterpret all things Catholic. This is the book's best and, conversely, most critical feature. Slowinski was fatally bit by a Multi-Banded Krait, the very snake he was studying. "Machine Gun 21,000" is about an officer who's facing court-martial for the loss of his unit's heavy machine gun; determined to salvage his career -- and not pay a $500 fine -- he sets off to find it. I must leave it to others more knowledgeable than I am to determine who killed Kennedy and why. Instead you get tables comparing the authors correlations to other correlations which also are not published. (I don't know why producers of these books don't bother to put a spiral binding on them so that at least it stays flat.) To teach yourself many of the positions while reading requires that the book be just far enough away from your body--especially with something holding the pages flat--as to be barely legible, creating a lot of interruption and frustration.
