I got Ty's books after hearing him on Coast To Coast AM. It is intriguing is the almost fleeting comments he makes which show us that the Venice he lived in, is not the Venice of today, e.g. He can't control his cat, even outside the Bayou and that is bad news. What stood out was the excellent choice of pictures for each chapter, like the text, clearly illustrated the point of its chapter's content.. A visit to the Ancient Meso-American city of Monte Alban becomes an excuse to probe into the curious history of rubber- which the Zapotec people used to make their heavy sport balls for their own unique form of basketball. The book's overall presentation is visually stunning. I was disappointed in this book Half of it is geared toward the reader and half is research studies to share with your doctor (which I guess is what the title says, but my doctor wouldn't take the time to read this). It's a great read because while there's a storyline that runs through it, each chapter is kind of an individual story so you can put down the book for a while if you need to do so. It will freak you out like your about to be eaten! Then go to plate 40 and look at the beautiful butterfly.The writing accompanying each image adds to the photos with just the right amount of scientific and general information to serve both young and old reader.
